A very typical story of a rich father and greedy kids who fight for daddy’s kiss and a little bit of inheritance with of twist of the oedipal complex and an immature, toxic, powerful boomer authority. Yes like the book ‘Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents’ by Lindsay C. Gibson. Logan is a classic patriarchal old white man living in the 21st-century digital economy, with his company on the brink of extinction of relevancy of a tv-news media. Logan has high expectations from his kids, he fears his children will destroy his legacy and embarrass him by being an unuseful rich idiot yet he himself can not offer his children the acceptance that would give his children confidence and a secure mentality from which it could help them succeed.
Logan reasserts his dominance by embarrassing Kendall by disrespecting Kendall’s decision and dismissing his opinions even tho Kendall is supposedly the next in his chain of command. Manipulating Siobhan, and does not take Roman seriously and borderline verbally bullying him. By the end of episode 7 season 1, Logan was seen swimming and the scene ended with the frame of Logan's back that has scars, unfolding an abusive past of Logan's childhood. “ Dad doesn’t swim, he doesn't trust the water,” said Shiv. Logan hides his vulnerable past from his children and thinks he is a good father by doing a lesser form of abuse that doesn't leave scars which he believes will make his kids stronger. He believes that abuse made him who he is, a powerful successful man a self-made man who at the end of the day has no one to trust, only believes in himself and thinks that he will forever be in control. Indirectly affects his children agonizing insecurity of life without his control. Truly a gift that keeps giving, a cycle of abuse and trauma.
